The days of the “lone ranger” entrepreneur may be gone. This is especially true for inside entrepreneurship.
Any truly gifted leader is self-aware enough to see his or her own faults and areas where s/he doesn’t have strength, skill or knowledge. S/he builds teams, partnerships and advocates to help move his/her ideas forward.
Are you behaving like a lone ranger? If you’re trying to build teams, partnerships and advocates, here’s a simple test:
How often do you use the word “I” when you are talking about the history, current activity or future vision of your initiative or idea? The more often you use the word ”I” (even when/if it’s the “true” or most appropriate term to use), the less likely you will be to build passionate and committed teams, partners and advocates. Replace “I” with “we” and see what happens. We think you’ll build trust, support and engagement, and strengthen your initiative.
